Robert F. Kennedy

On reflecting today’s Trump White House how very ironic.
I think his quote is more about you and I, rather than those who think they’re “in power”… we can be the real changers and shifters.
It seems the checks and balances put in place are no longer applicable. I got the quote.
Unfortunately, those checks and balances have been out of whack in America for many years… now the question is, what can they do to repair them? Not that I want to discuss politics – it’s just a thought.
Then I guess this is just business as usual.
I row my tiny oar against the current, giving to worthy causes and defending Enlightenment values (fairness; liberty; rationality; tolerance). I also recognize that my oar IS tiny; I am neither able nor obliged to fix the whole damn world. Beating myself up does not help the victims of crimes I did not commit. Sometimes it is hard to remember that.
I agree! Sometimes I long for the days when the only news one heard was from your own town, or valley, and maybe once in a while when a troubadour or travelling merchant came through… All we can do is stir the water around us with our oars, but that will be enough to change our world. May it be change for the better!
